I feel like drawing short lived comics again. Give me some ideas in one sentence or less. 125 word maximum. Anything over will be shot.

I just temporarily moved to:

http://antchicago.blogdrive.com

Join me for a bit

For those of you who know about the seasonal holiday of Warmthist, you may have noticed that I did not mention it this year. Blame it on the move to a new city :-). I will more than likely will be celebrating it this coming year during it's regular time - starting in December and lasting through February - as it was pretty fricking cold up here...

to those that publicly celebrated it and even made a mention in your blogs about it, thanks!

A Different Christmas Story

OLD CITY BAR

In an old city bar that is never too far from the places that gather the dreams that have been. In the safety of night with its old neon light, it beckons to strangers and they always come in. And the snow it was falling. The neon was calling. The music was low and the night, Christmas Eve. And here was the danger that even with strangers inside of this night it's easier to believe.

Then the door opened wide and a child came inside that no one in the bar had seen there before. And he asked did we know that outside in the snow that someone was lost standing outside our door. Then the bartender gazed through the smoke and the haze, through the window and ice, to that corner streetlight. Where standing alone by a broken pay phone was a girl that the child said could no longer get home. And the snow it was falling. The neon was calling.

The bartender turned and said "Not that I care, but how would you know this?"

The child said "I've noticed if one could be home, they'd be already there."

Then the bartender came out from behind the bar and in all of his life he was never that far. And he did something else that he thought no one saw when he took all the cash from the register drawer.

Then he followed the child to the girl across the street and we watched from the bar as they started to speak. Then he called for a cab and he said "J.F.K." He put the girl in the cab and the cab drove away. And we saw in his hand that the cash was all gone.

From the light that she had wished upon, if you want to arrange it, this world you can change it. If we could somehow make this Christmas thing last by helping a neighbour or even a stranger. And to know who needs help you need only just ask.

Then he looked for the child, but the child wasn't there. Just the wind and the snow waltzing dreams through the air. So he walked back inside. Somehow different I think. For the rest of the night, no one paid for a drink.

And the cynics will say that some neighborhood kid wandered in on some bums in the world where they hid. But they weren't there so they couldn't see by an old neon star on that night, Christmas Eve. When the snow it was falling. The neon was calling. And in case you should wonder, in case you should care why we, on our own, never went home On that night of all nights. We were already there.

Then all at once inside that night, he saw it all so clear. The answer that he sought so long had always been so near. It's every gift that someone gives expecting nothing back. It's every kindness that we do. Each simple, little act.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Pictures are still coming. I've been to tired to really do any blog stuff since the campus started back up. I've been making some interesting items, but didn't take pictures. I had a good chance of being able to when we opened back up. For once, we had a full staff. Unfortunately, I didn't take advantage of that time and all is not what it was since then. Really, how hard is it to snap a few pics here and there? Here's some pictures of some pastries I came across from a local food show I went to.

That's a small reason why I'll be heading to Chicago to go to pastry school at the end of this year.

Short post just to say I posted:

Why is it that I always score low on the violent side of Zombie Survival tests compared to others who took the test. And how the hell can I score higher than 2% of other test takers in lethality when my own score is 0%? On the plus side, I tend to survive longer and do a great job of leading those who kill better than I.

Anyone looking for a leader for a zombie survival team? I'm available. I even have certificates!!! I even own and have read for comprehension the book listed below.
Chapter 3: The First Public Dome

The first real world use of an experimental dome was in 2038. The ThemeFunPark company built their second amusement park under a city dome 50 miles away from Kansas City, Kansas, USA. The dome, named KC ExciteLand Dome, was just 1 mile high and had a radius of 2 miles (4 miles wide circle). The environmental systems inside the dome did not have the capability to create weather like today's city domes, but was able to keep the typical Midwest weather out. ExciteLand Dome itself took three direct hits from F5 class tornadoes in a five year period. The only damage done was to an external sewage pipe that had been unearthed for replacement. By 2054, a study released by an engineering group announced that the dome would last hundreds of years, even if the amusement park did not. Unfortunately, a meteorite storm came short of obliterating ExciteLand Dome two years later.

Continue to the History of the Second City Dome?[Y/N/MENU]: y

Despite the destruction of the first city dome by by meteorites, construction of two more city domes began without structural modifications protecting against meteorite strikes. One dome was constructed off the West African Coast and then nudged to an anchored positing in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean between the South American and African continents. This dome was the first self sufficient dome and housed 15 million people. The Atlantic Dome was one mile high and had a radius of 3.5 miles (7 miles wide circle). There was an unforeseen effect caused by this dome. Five years after the dome was anchored in place, wave sizes began to change around the coast of southern Brazil. The average surface wave height increased to 4 meters. Atlantic dome would also be destroyed by debris from space. In 2099, the original International Space Station was destroyed by space debris that was assumed to have originated from the construction of Unity Port. Many debris field specialists believe that the ISS debris would be pulled further into earth's atmosphere and burn up upon re-entry. The largest piece of debris expected to land would not be larger than a golf ball. Two months after the ISS was destroyed, many space and air tracking agencies noticed a large object from the ISS debris field passing into low earth orbit. This object escaped being burned in the atmosphere and would hit the Atlantic Dome. While the Atlantic Dome was not obliterated like the KC ExciteLand Dome, the ISS debris' exit hole was large enough to sink the dome. This dome was renamed by the media and eventually the rest of the world as the Lost City of Atlantis Jr. Because of the extreme loss of the Atlantic Dome, the Fourth City Dome would not be constructed for forty-five years.

Continue to the History of the Third City Dome?[Y/N/MENU]:
Odd title, but it has a reason. I've been looking at a few options of handling voting. I looked at BlogDrive's commenting system, but for some reason, I think that's too troublesome. I don't know why, but I do. I looked at email where a keyword would go in the subject line corresponding with a vote that would automatically filter it into folders. I like the idea, but I know some people won't go through the trouble of opening their email to send an email for the hell of it. So I came to a decision that I should just use a polling service. Should it be off site, or placed on the blog. Obviously, it should go on the blog. Less travel and all. I played around with a few places. They seemed ok but dragged the load time down. Then I thought, 'I wish BlogDrive had a polling setup.' Guess what, I forgot they do. So I turned it on (paid subscription is required that I had). Viola! Very workable. It's off to the right there under the links to the old blogs.

So, I'm one step closer to world domination. Or at least an interesting story telling option that I don't believe has occurred on BlogDrive yet. This story is from an idea I had a few years back that I tried to do something with but kept going stagnant about it. It was based on my love for the future and cause and effect. I turned it into a project called The World. The idea was that multiple people who would like to tell stories about a few characters whose path would cross with some of the other characters being written by other people. To keep things interesting, I came up with curve balls that the writers would have to tackle when one was thrown at them. A curve ball was basically a note of some sort sent to the writer requiring them to follow a different path. For example, Eric is going about life as an electrical engineer. One day he gets a letter in the mail telling him he's been summoned to court. On his way to court, he gets stopped by a man that gets him involved in stuff. Now the writer has to write that out as a story in that characters point of view. This was a way of giving the writers that volunteered the freedom to write out their characters, but allowed me to bump them towards the ultimate goal without having to take steps that would be too out of context of what could happen in real life.

So here's a run down on the story:

It's sometime in the future. Let's say 100 to 200 years. Civilization has grown. Space has been colonized, albeit slowly. There are anywhere from 10 to 20 space stations and no more than 10 colonies on various moons, planets, and asteroids all in our solar system. Earth's human population is in overabundance as usual. In order to make space for the population special domed cities were created that could house huge amounts of people. The reason for the domes was to better control all sorts of things inside them such as animals, weather, people, and outbreaks.

In the original story, all the events were written as if it was happening at that moment. But it would also be known that it was really some guy doing research of things that led to a historical event in his time line. Think of it as if you were doing research into the history of what went into the making of the first automobile. You would jump back to Ford's time period and go as far as to see through his eyes the things that happened.

Yeah, so. Come here often? Nice shoe's. You must shop at a reseller. Does that shake some with some fries and a free one month membership to Jenny Craig? You have beautiful, bright eyes... for a tramp.

am i swooning you yet?
So I mentioned my in game debt in the post the comes before this one. I checked it today for the heck of it. It is now at 3,381,188,606,607,707.

In text, that is equal to three quadrillion, three hundred eighty one trillion, one hundred eighty eight billion, six hundred six million, six hundred seven thousand, seven hundred seven.

On a side note, in my previous post I mentioned the Indy Whopper. While doing my random viewer check, I noticed that one of these viewers had clicked on my blog because of a Google Blog search for "Indy Whopper". There were about four thousand possible links. My link came in 8th place. *sniff* I made to the big leagues again!

What? It's an obscure search term? Completely random and out of the blue? Never was in the big leaves in the first place? Has been wanna be never was? Look.... I worked hard to be where I am today.... Damnit, I worked very hard. I deserve to be obscure, unknown, and unwanted!

wait.... no.......
Ever had a Bacon Club Chalupa? It's not that bad. My back is starting to feel better now. It odd how I usually get injured when I get long periods of time off. I've been working on basic story plots for if I decide to move forward with a choose your own adventure style web story. I'm starting to get the feel for a strategy game again. Maybe I can sooth it with a Galactic Civ2 expansion.... I've been doing some more work on funding for when I go to school in January. I've also looked at the living places that the school suggests. They've also made an update on other locations students choose. I've found some studio apartments for around $600 a month that includes all basic utilities (water, sanitation, electricity). It's about 400 sq ft. I did a quick floor measurement to get an idea of the room. That should be enough room for 6 months.

Threadless has another design that I like:

Come on! Cartoons committing self sacrifice is funny. And speaking of cartoons, specifically web comics, here's one on the food merchandising of a certain movie character to return to the big screen on May 22nd. The Indy Whopper.

Recently I decided to take out a small loan of about 100 billion credits. I had no intention of paying it back. What was I thinking? Since this was in a game, there will be no effects to my credit rating when I don't pay it back. And since it was pretty much the end of the regularly scheduled game, I wanted to splurge and blow it all on the last couple of days. But wait, two weeks later, I'm now 142,959,879,964,930 in debt. That is in the trillions. What happened? Well, the game was extended. Much to my surprise, it turns out, you can't do squat until it's paid off. I wonder if the combined earnings of the other players could even pay off this loan. Oh well. I just joined the three month version of the game.

If you are reading this now, then you must know that in 4 minutes, the sun will suddenly stop being the bright, hot ball of gas that it is and will become a cold, dark mass. You will have roughly eight minutes to do whatever it is you want to do before it becomes too cold for anything we have that can keep anything alive.

Various people watching the sun noted two hours ago that solar flares were being ejected from the sun in what appeared to be a pattern. That pattern was Morse Code. It appears the sun has been communicating with us. The message basically came down to "You idiots. You don't care. I quit."

*So what do you people think about an 'evolving' story (not based on the above). What do I mean by 'evolving'? Think along the lines of a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book. Except you won't get to cheat.

Yeah yeah, I know what you are thinking. "I'll tell you about it when I see it." I deserve that. With that said, answer my damn question! Would you check it out and participate or not?

It's a me! Or is it? What do we really know about the other person on the blah blah blah blah blah blah. Today, let's do away with the introspective stuff and just go straight out, being frank, uncouth if needed, and being selfish. Why? Cause it's my birthday, Bitch. If you're reading this, then guess what? You're my bitch today. Go get me a drink.

I like music. I really really do. But I'm not a connoisseur. Hell, I couldn't tell you a lot of the names of the songs or the bands that play the songs that I like the most. And that's with today's technology with the internet to find out songs. My phone even can listen to the song and tell me what the name, album, and band that's playing within thirty seconds. Usually.

I can make great cheese cake now. It's amazing how all the girls swoon over my skills. Alright. It's true. They don't care. They just want the cheese cake. And because of the type of person I am, I willingly sacrifice whatever I need too to oblige their wants.

Can I haz jahb wit bd speeeling? Lolcatz phenomenon is hiring? Has it really gotten that popular? You got me. I haz chezburger. I like Lolcatz braincell killing humor and bad speeling. I've even referenced a few pictures in the past. I was just floored that they were hiring. And then I almost fell off the toilet when I read the way they were advertising the job opening. What? I find that I can catch up on the news through my cellphone whilst I take a crap. [i had to rethink that last sentence. it originally ended with "catch up on the news whilst i take a crap on my cellphone"]

I like where I work. I get to see beautiful young college ladies everyday. A magazine is coming to take photos of our location next week. Which magazine? Dunno. I wasn't given that information. It's probably one of those insider magazines for that particular industry. An email was sent detailing some of the things that needed to be setup and done for the shoot. One of the things listed was "Have attractive people". At the very least, I know my muffins and cookies will be in the picture.

I like redheads by the way. I like all the others too. Cept gray/grey/greaux.

My XM radio. I love it. I've had that little thing for 6 years and it hasn't failed me yet. I spent a few hours after I got home from work trying to rework the receiver position so I can listen to XM in my room instead of just my car. Sucks having a lot of trees around.

I still want to go to space. Even if it means I'm a debris collector.

Ok. I'm done. You have my permission to leave a comment now. And then take your ass out.

"What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me?"

    Hey, looky! A Lyrics post!

"Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song and I'll try not to sing out of key."

It hard to find a good song to sing. Especially those that you haven't sung over and over. I love my XM Radio. I'm starting to find these old songs that I haven't heard in many many years that I like singing to while I'm in the car to work or home. Singing out of key? Most likely.

"Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends. I get high with a little help from my friends. Oh, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends."

As usual, I still need to get out more. I'm really starting to miss the late nights out. It's difficult now that I have to be up by 4 am to make it to work by 5 am. The summer is coming. The job won't shutdown, but at least I'll have more time and won't have to work as hard. Anyone in the Clinton/Vicksburg area wanna hang out?

"What do I do when my love is away? Does it worry you to be alone?"

Love. Sigh. Every day I leave work, I'm leaving all the lovelies. There are some really cute ones on campus. Some weird cute ones, but cute none the less.

"No, I get by with a little help from my friends. Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends. Oh, i'm gonna try with a little help from my friends."

I'm openly being sarcastic now at work. Verbally saying inflated prices or denying product because they are "display only". Of course I turn around and tell them the right price or give them what they ask for and accompany it with a humourous smile.

"Do you need anybody? I need somebody to love."

God yes. ... Did that sound too desperate?

"Could it be anybody? I want somebody to love."

If it's a she and she's cute and not dumb, then yes. If it's anything outside of that, then more than likely, no.

"Would you believe in a love at first sight? Yea, I'm certain that it happens all the time."

All the time. All the time. Everyday at work. And with the warmer weather coming in.... oh man...

"What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know it's mine."

Do I really want to go there? :-P

"Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends. Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends. Oh, I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends."

For one of our drinks, we use this stuff called Vanilla Freeze. It's a milk powder that makes frozen drinks all creamy and shake like. We're constantly ask what the stuff is. I've recently started using variations of "Oh that's just a milk powder." Then I stop in the middle of scooping it and scrutinize it. "Either that or a special shipment of white gold from South America."

"Do you need anybody? I just need someone to love. Could it be anybody? I want somebody to love."

Do we really need to rub this in?

"Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends, with a little help from my frie-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-ends."

    Let's have some fun.

I can make a log from the Captain's chair. So today has been a busy day. The Cayman and my ship, the Signal, have been doing a lot of cargo moving today. Cayman has populated and fortified a new, jointly operated base. The Cayman's captain has also been sending information to the KZC alliance about the location of some planets belonging to another alliance. Hopefully this will buy us some protection like it did with Captain Art.
Signal has been ferrying new colonists and replacement fighters to a few of my planets. I've decided to fire a Genesis Torpedo in a sector far away from the Home sector. The planet that was created actually turned out good. Looks like the next few days will be a lot of cargo moving.
***New Entry Recorded and Saved
***Closing Log Database***
In February, JfZ got me into a game reminiscent to another game I liked playing called TradeWars. This new version, called Black Nova Traders, has many of the same game mechanics of TradeWars and a few changes. Right now, I'm still flailing around with doing stuff. JfZ's tried to set me straight, but I just go on with my Universe wide rampant destruction of ... myself. Come April though, I will be doing impressively better (not a hard stretch). You know what I'd like even more? If you'd join me and JfZ. As a group, we could rule the BNT2 universe and bring the likes of Ahab to their knees.

Evolution in Action
